Colonial Stamp Company's #127
Specialized British Empire Public Auction

As those of you who are regular bidders in our Public Auctions have noted, it has been a while since our last one. The answer: Dave Lustig, our in-house catalogue producer suffered a broken hip replacement some months ago and catalogue production got sidelined. I am happy to report that he is on-the-mend, back to work, and, hence, our new catalogue.

This new Public Auction contains many interesting and valuable stamps from all parts of the Empire!

• Great Britain includes high value 10/- large squares, Sea Horses to the £1 and a good Officials section.

• British West Indies has key Antigua stamps; Bahamas shows an 1865 1/- in unusual “superb” quality; Barbados features a unique ½d double overprint (both in black) ex-Ferrary; a Bermuda highlight is a KGV 2/6d in bright orange-vermilion; British Guiana features classic perforated issues; Grenada has the all-but-impossible second issue Postage Due set, mint (a different set than last time!); Turks Island shows a nice range of overprints.

• British Africa is very well represented, including Bechuanaland 4d on 4d, 26 (25), a great used rarity; Cape of Good Hope shows a nice 1/- yellow-green Triangle, mint, and the scarce ½d on 3d overprint, wmkd CC, mint; Egypt weighs in with 50pi Port Fouad, mint and used; there are over two dozen large Madagascar Consular Mail stamps; Natal features a 1/- green “Postage.”, used, 25 (43); Niger Coast features a very scarce mint 27 (336) ½d on 2½d; many rare Togo overprints to the 1M; and a large range of Zanzibar overprints finishes the continent.

A careful review should reveal many useful items!

Terms of Consignment

The terms for consigning material are simple. First, please write or call with a description of the material before you send it. Your shipment should contain a minimum of $5000 potential realized value (For material totaling less than $5000, we will be happy to review it for outright purchase). Each mint or used item should catalog at least $250, unless you are forwarding a collection in its entirety. All 20th-Century material in that price range is acceptable. Nineteenth Century material should be in very fine condition. An inventory should be included with all shipments of sets and single items (not required for whole collections). Please send all shipments via registered mail for your protection. All material received that is not deemed suitable for consignment will be returned promptly. Shortly before the sale date you will receive a list of your items included in the sale and a copy of the catalog.

The commission rate is only 10% for items realizing $150 or over. Due to production costs the minimum fee per lot is $15 for items realizing less than $150. There are no other charges.

Payment to consignors commences 60 days after the sale, subject to invoices being paid and items on extension having cleared.
