A14b, A16, A19a (Z14a, Z19, Z22) 1872 Mar 13 Cover to London franked with 1d brown, 3d dull red and 6d yellow-green to pay 10¢ rate for ½oz. to U.K., tied with "B64" cancels, with red square and black oval "London" receivers on back, blue embossed "H.M.S. COLUMBINE" on flap and enclosure written by ship's officer, "...with the sad news of the Death of Admiral Cockburn and Lord Mayo (Viceroy) who was stabbed in the back by a convict at the Adaman Islands", an important historical letter of the period, cover opens out on all sides with some collateral damage.
